Hammell’s newly commissioned adaptation of Cluster of Cells for wind band (composed by Shawn Doiron) will be premiered in Charlottetown PEI by the Colonel Gray High School Concert Band during their collaborative performance with the UPEI Wind Symphony at the Confederation Centre of the Arts.

Cluster of Cells is a musical collaboration between Shawn Doiron and E.K.R. Hammell.  This piece is meant to celebrate life and illustrate the interplay of cells starting from the simplest of cellular interactions, to the formation of beings, and the cycle of life and death.  Based off of motifs and ideas originally composed by Doiron, Hammell orchestrated and arranged these ideas to fit in the context of a typical concert band. The final result is a new arrangement that will be premiered Nov 15th at the Confederation Centre of the Arts by the Colonel Gray High School Concert Band, with the composer Shawn Doiron at the helm.
