Conductor’s Scores for large ensemble works (wind band, orchestra, etc.) published by E.K.R. HAMMELL MUSIC are optimized for 11x14 printing (which optionally scales down to 9x12 and 8.5x11 if desired).

IDEAL SCORE PREPARATION:

-Fit all pages to 11”x14”

-Coil-bound OR saddle-stitch spine (cheaper, and scores are pre-formatted in page quantities of multiples of 4 to allow this)

HOME/OFFICE SCORE PREPARATION:

If 11x14 printing size is not available to the purchaser, this sizing scales down fairly well to either 9x12 (a common concert band score size) or 8.5x11 (standard US Letter). This can be accomplished by selecting “Fit Pages” or “Fit to Printable Area” in your computer’s printing specifications window. 

NOTE: Scaling down to 8.5x11 is not recommended for large ensemble scores (due to legibility concerns), but if it is your only option, it will work! In any case, make sure to select “Fit Pages” or “Fit to Printable Area” before printing the booklet.

NOTE - Collector Covers (colour) are sent in separate PDFs and may be added to (/merged with) any B&W print score optionally.

Parts published by E.K.R. HAMMELL MUSIC are optimized for 8.5x11 (standard US Letter size) printing. Every attempt is made to create manageable page turns at the end of every part page, with the goal of being equally suited for a variety of different reading scenarios (single-sided printing, double-sided printing, or tablet).

Ride of the Raccoon is a programmatic piece depicting a scenario that may be quite familiar to Torontonians in recent years.

The piece is structured in 3 main sections. In the first section: exposed, meandering lines and staccato pitter-patter motif illustrate the cautious curiosity of a singular raccoon making its way down into a TTC subway station. Locals may recognize three distinct chimes commonly heard on the TTC that have been woven into the music. This is includes the “door-closing” chime (m.22), which signals a transition and acceleration into the faster second section. After the initial chaos of the acceleration, the raccoon realizes it has become stuck on the moving train and embraces the adventure… but this only lasts for a brief period of time. The "door-opening" chime (m.67) then leads into the final section, returning to the the mischievous, cautious musical ideas of the beginning. After the "announcement" chime (m.79-82), the raccoon manages to scamper to safety.
